Digital map of the 5 Rye City School District schools and other area attractions

Dear RCSD Community,

We are now into December and looking forward to the many holiday events, concerts, and celebrations that accompany the season. Please be sure to check individual school calendars on the new District website and P.O. and P.T.O. newsletters for the latest updates.

College Admissions Speaker Event

On Wednesday night, we co-hosted a speaker event with Rye Country Day School. Journalist and higher education author Jeff Selingo came to talk to parents about the frequently enigmatic college admissions process. Several parents have asked if we recorded the event. Unfortunately, the answer is ‘no.’ Speakers like Jeff generally do not allow recordings of their talks. If you weren’t able to come, I highly recommend picking up a copy of his book, Who Gets In and Why: A Year Inside College Admissions. It’s a very engaging and informative read.

Dear RCSD Community,

In Superintendent World, it’s pretty rare to have one of your high school sports teams win a State Championship, but two? In a month? A true unicorn! I could not be prouder of our varsity football team that on Sunday joined our girls varsity soccer team in the State Champion pantheon. Read on below…

RHS Varsity Football are Class B Champions

This past Sunday, the boys took on and won decisively against the two-time champion Maine-Endwell Spartans in the Class B football state finals in The Dome at Syracuse. This was an incredibly exciting experience for the team, their families, the coaches, students, alums, administrators, teachers, and staff. It was great to see all the Garnet fans there in support despite the game taking place over 4 hours away. A special ‘thank you’ to the girls cheerleading team who were on hand to cheer the team on to victory.
